12 Benefits of Yoga

Benefits of Yoga

Life has its ways of throwing many challenges at us. And we tend to let it without being adequately prepared to take them on. This causes us to be forced to find ways to suck it up and deal with them without really knowing how to. Whether it be through taking a brisk walk, laughing about the situation, or sharing a good time with friends or family. Yoga can be a very beneficial way to relieving that unwanted stress and anxiety that cause us pain too.

Let me tell you how.

  • Promotes Mindfulness

Usually, when we are going through something stressful, we are thinking about how we could have done things differently or what we did wrong. We have to realise that the past and future cannot be changed. We can only change the present moment. Yoga allows us to be in a present state of mind. This gives us an opportunity to change what we can.

  • Improves Sleep

Most of our stressful situations rob us of our much-needed rest. Instead of counting sheep, we are counting the many ways that we can do something differently. But in reality, we can’t. While relieving the stress, yoga reduces the physical effects that stress can have on our bodies.

  • Promotes Inner Calmness

Whether its a stomped toe, spilled coffee, or a long commute to work. A lot of things can factor into a hectic day. Yoga gives us the ability to quiet our minds. This ables us to see that some situations do not deserve our energy.

  • Breathing Reminder

Along with clearing your mind, yoga gives us the opportunity to focus on what’s more important. Our breath. Something as simple as breathing can give us an opportunity to connect with our emotions. While doing so, we are able to evaluate the situation and see ways that we could have handled a situation differently. Doing this consistently allows us to see different sides of every situation.

  • Improves Focus

Some of our daily tasks come with strenuous deadlines to meet. If we do not manage our time wisely, we can find ourselves biting more than we can chew or not meeting any deadline. Yoga helps to improve our focus we can lead to actually getting things done.

  • Eases Pain

How many of you find that your body endures much tension when it is under stress? This leads to many aches and pains that don’t do anything but make our day worst off than it really is. Yoga stretches and strengthens our muscles causing us to dismiss the tension, relieve the pain, and become more relaxed.

  • Improves Posture

Since poor posture leads to an imbalance in our natural alignment, it can be the very reason why we are experiencing physical and mental stress. Yoga prevents this from happening which can lead to a stronger core and core mobility. Better posture leads to a reduction in anxiety and pain and an increase in productivity and breathing. Let me see coffee do that.

  • Turn That Attitude to Gratitude

Along with clearing your mind, doing yoga can make it possible for you to see the good in the small things. So what, you did not get that promotion or meet that deadline. What new skills did you improve while attempting to meet those goals? Yoga makes it possible to see the little things that you have to be grateful for. This, in return, will better prepare you for your next goals.

  • Promotes Discipline

Most goals and deadlines don’t get met simply because we do not practice discipline. Yoga can cause our minds and bodies to be on the same page. Do you normally dread waking up in the morning to go to work? Practicing yoga regularly can lead you to wake up much earlier than you thought you’d ever want to. Making this a routine can lead to a more clear and structured mind frame to tackle what’s in store for your day. How does a 5 am yoga session sound?

  • Builds Self-Confidence

Strong self-confidence can equip us to take on challenges that we never would have imagined ourselves doing. Are you the type of person who sweats heavily, get easily offended, or talk excessively before you have to present something to a room of people? Yoga will have you challenge yourself no matter how many poses you fall out of. Making this a part of your routine can lead you to have the confidence to prove to that room of people that you’ve got this.

  • Promotes Self-worth

Some of the tasks that cause us stress are not always worth the time that we give to it. Yoga will give you an opportunity to focus on only you. All those many to-dos on your list begin to get the back burner when you take as little as five to ten minutes of “me time”. Making this a part of your routine will allow you to see that you are worth a lot more than you put yourself through. So go ahead, hide in the bathroom or break room and take some time to yourself. Your body will thank you later.

  • Prioritises Your Priorities

When you are faced with paperwork piling on your desk or many projects, it can become easy to lose control of what needs to be done first and what can be postponed for later. With a clear mind and self-discipline, yoga can give you the ability to prfioritize your priorities. This will allow you to complete what is most important first like making it to work on time and save something like organising your desk for last.

Conclusion

We all know that life can be very stressful. The many things that are thrown at us can lead us to more important problems than getting some paperwork submitted on time. When we practice yoga regularly, we get better prepared to take on every challenge that life gives us. I am ready to make yoga a part of my regular routine. Are you?
